100 Days of Wykd Witchy Wisdom DAY 4 - AS ABOVE SO BELOW

 "As above, so below" 
is an aphorism associated with Sacred geometry, Hermeticism, and the Tarot. 
The phrase derives from a passage in the Emerald Tablet (variously attributed to Hermes Trismegistus or Pseudo-Apollonius of Tyana). ... 
(The prayer's phrase is traditionally rendered "on earth, as it is in heaven".) 
Sounds familiar????

"As within" refers to the mind and soul, "as without" to the world outside the individual. Together, the intent of the phrase is to remind the magickal practitioner that they cannot achieve their purpose without first achieving harmony between spiritual and physical.

Occult history buffs and students tend to agree that the Tablets were originally uncovered around 1350 bce, in a hidden chamber under the Egyptian pyramid of Cheops. But this is not the only tale of their discovery.

Another legend tells a tale of Hermes, (not the Roman messenger god of Quicksilver, but a 5th century philosopher) who happened to be traveling in Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka). He discovered the Emerald Tablets, so the story goes, hidden in a cave.

After studying them, Hermes learned the secret of traveling in “both heaven and earth.” The legend goes on to say that he spent the remainder of his life traveling across Asia and the Middle East serving as both healer and teacher. 

For those of us who live by the desire to further our own studies and continue to grow as witches we should continue to refer to this small, but extremely powerful statement.

We cannot create outside of ourselves what we do not believe lives deep within us.

We must consider that balance as being THE MOST IMPORTANT thing that we need to make manifest in our lives.

Without that, our magick will not work.
We are truly connected to everything.

 We must firstly work upon ourselves and our minds.
Once we establish that deep connection, and believe in our selves totally and wholeheartedly, we can then move on to have control over our outer worlds.

Believe you are a child of the stars and are connected to the whole universe.
